Editor note: Tight, bright, clearly floral, yeasty, reductive-smoky and a little herbaceous nose with quite noble white and yellow fruity aromas, woodruff, red berries and hints of liquorice. Youthful, predominantly bright fruit also in the mouth, again woodruff notes, a hint of wine gum, present acidity, some grip, bright mineral tones, a little yeast and smoke, still undeveloped, has bite, hints of liquorice, does not seem eternally deep, very good, tight finish, again with a lot of acid bite.

The wine-growing region is located in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany and is named after the river of the same name. There is much preserved evidence of the Romans, who already cultivated wine here. The vineyards cover 4,237 hectares of vines along the river from Hunsrück to where it flows into the Rhine at Bingen. Near Bingen, the Benedictine abbess Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179) founded the Rupertsberg monastery.
