2019 Bürgstadt Hundsrück Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Firm and deep, still rather closed, polished aroma of red and black berries with ethereal notes, partly dried flowers, hints of pepper, star anise and very delicate juniper. Dense, firm and tangy in the mouth, slightly smoky and toasty tones, dried herbs, pepper and distinct minerality, present, still slightly drying tannins, a hint of coffee and malt in the background, game, ethereal spice, good depth, persistent, complex, still undeveloped, some warmth, enormous minerality, long, firm and immensely complex, juicy, spicy and grippy finish with smoky, toasty and again intensely mineral notes. Masterly.
