2018 Chardonnay VDP.Gutswein trocken "R", Franconia/Franken, Germany

Firm, deep, still undeveloped and reductive, vegetal, lightly woody and slightly smoky fragrance of ripe citrus fruits with a little pome and stone fruit, herbal and slightly ethereal notes and a clear minerality in the background. Ripe, clear, tangy and relatively cool, rather juicy fruit with lively acidity and some grip, fresh plant to herbaceous aromas, integrated light wood and a little smoke, persistent, still undeveloped, much salty minerality in the background, has life, good depth, becomes more and more complex when exposed to air, longer and compelling, tight finish with fresh, cool juice and again intense minerality. Absolutely great
