2001 Volkach Karthäuser Spätburgunder trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Initially smoky and roasted aromas, then quite clear, even prominent berry fruit, concentrated and minerally. Very juicy and dense, with lots of very well integrated oak, ripe tannins are present, persistent, powerful, has substance as well as bite, very well balanced, still young, long finish with minerally and fruity notes.
