2015 Schnait Altenberg Riesling trocken Erste Lage, Württemberg, Germany

Fairly cool nose, earthy and vegetal notes, fairly restrained yellow fruit, sautéed root vegetables, some iodine and Brussels sprouts. Mature fruit on the palate, some brown butter, ground hazelnuts, sea salt, slightly bitter vegetables, earthy and mineral notes in the background, ripe acidity, persistent, prominent earthy notes, good grip, hint of tobacco on a good to very good finish. Very unusual, but also very good - just not for those who like fruit in their wine.
