2020 Merlot VDP.Gutswein "Limited Edition", Rheinhessen, Germany

Tart, somewhat juniper-like scent of black berries with a hint of cherries, hints of ash, fleshy-animal traces and dried-vegetable to herbal nuances. Quite juicy, somewhat warm fruit with present, youthful tannins and noticeable acid bite, a little smoky and ashy on the palate, good persistence, lots of alcohol, hinted sweetness in the background, liquorice notes, dark ethereal spiciness, very good, slightly acidic and alcoholic finish with bite, still slightly drying tannin, liquorice and again almost a little sweetish juice.
