2023 Ungstein Scheurebe VDP.Ortswein trocken "SP", Pfalz, Germany

Festive, woody, slightly herbal-plant-like to herbal, nutty and a bit smoky-bacon-like nose with yellow fruity aromas, a hint of bay leaf and tobacco. Refined, firm, completely dry fruit with distinct smoky and spicy wood notes, a touch of fennel and hinted nut butter, fine acidity, has grip from ripe tannin, good substance and sustainability, certain depth, in the background yellow spice and some medicinal herbs, chalky minerality, very good, warm, again smoky and buttery finish with aromas reminiscent of bacon dumplings. The wood becomes more prominent in the air and the wine becomes warmer and broader.
