The winery is located in the community of Sommerach (area Maindreieck) in the German wine-growing region of Franken
. The family has been dedicated to winegrowing since 1975. A guest apartment is attached. The business is managed by Otmar and Adelheid Zang. Their son Johannes is responsible for the cellar after an apprenticeship as a winegrower in Wiesenbronn, internships in the Palatinate, South Tyrol and New Zealand and after graduating as a viticulture technician at the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture in 2007. The vineyards comprise ten hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Katzenkopf
(Volkach) and Landsknecht (Obervolkach). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner (one third of the area), Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Rivaner, Scheurebe, Kerner and Rieslaner, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Domina and Dornfelder. The product range is divided into Young Franconia (young fruity wines, bottled in Bordeaux bottles), Classic Franconia (in Bocksbeutel
) and Great Franconia (long-lasting complex wines, in Bocksbeutel). A speciality of the house is "Alter Satz". This Franconian cultural treasure comes from the oldest vineyard in Franconia from 1835, i.e. vines that are over 175 years old with over 35 varieties of grape, some of which are no longer known. About 80,000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
