2016 Spätburgunder Blauschiefer, Ahr, Germany

Slightly warm aroma of more red than black berries with a touch of cherries and hints of tobacco and malt. Ripe, warm, melting, tart fruit, fine, rather crumbly tannin, herbal-vegetable notes, certain persistence, slightly nutty and mushroomy in the background, some salt, noticeable alcohol, meanwhile going a bit wide, malty traces, warm finish.

Editor note: Clear, polished nose, hint of tobacco, predominantly red berries and some cherries, floral and mineral traces. Clear, fairly cool, elegant, juicy frit on the palate, moderate smoky, spicy oak, hint of tobacco, very fine tannins, salty notes in the background, hint of herbs and citrus zests, nutty traces, very elegant spice, polished on a good to very good finish.
