The winery is located in the municipality of Volkach (Maindreieck area) in the German wine growing region of Franconia
. It is based on a vineyard built in 1692 by the prince bishops of Würzburg. Since 1991 the estate has been managed by Werner and Monika Müller. The vineyards comprise 16 hectares of vineyards in the Katzenkopf
(Sommerach) and (Obereisenheim) areas, as well as Carthusian
, Kirchberg and Ratsherr
(Volkach) vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Riesling and Bacchus, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Domina and Black Riesling. Most of the white wines are aged in stainless steel and stored on the for a long time. The red wines mature after the mash fermentation in large wooden barrels and partly also in barriques. In suitable years also noble sweet Beerenauslese and ice wines are pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies (marc, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced.
