2018 Carnuntum DAC Ried Haidacker Zweigelt Erste ÖTW Ried trocken, Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Firm, clear and polished, quite deep aroma of predominantly dark berries and a little cherry with a hint of herbs, very delicate smoky nuances and liquorice. Clear, polished, very juicy, still youthful fruit, quite tightly woven and persistent, very fine, crumbly tannin, a hint of cocoa and pepper in the background, ethereal notes, has power, a little nutty and tobacco wood, certain depth, very good, juicy and again a little ethereal-spicy finish. Will be able to develop much longer than suspected after the first tasting.

Editor note: A hint of sour, very slightly fleshy and bacony, also somewhat herbal scent of cherries and more black than red berries with earthy nuances and a hint of camomile. Clear, straightforward, youthful, soft fruit, fine, crumbly tannin, some persistence, floral nuances, again reminiscent of camomile blossom, very slightly ethereal notes, fruity and delicately spicy finish, slightly peppery, again with hints of camomile.
