The winery is located in the municipality of Göttlesbrunn in the Carnuntum wine-growing region of Lower Austria. It was founded in 1950 by Johann and Katharina Markowitsch under the name "Marko's Weine" as a commercial enterprise with its own vineyards. From 1975 it was managed by Hans Markowitsch and his wife Monika. Since 1998 it has been run by Lukas Markowitsch, the third generation of the family, assisted by his brother Johann. Lukas Markowitsch previously gained experience on study trips through France, Italy, California, Australia and New Zealand. The vineyards cover 14 hectares in the Altenberg, Eisenbacher, Hagelsberg, Haidacker, Kräften, Rosenberg, Schüttenberg, Stuhlwerker and Zwiering vineyards.
They are 70% planted with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, and 30% with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Frühroter Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gelber Muskateller and Traminer. Grapes from selected sites are also purchased from long-standing partners. Depending on the type of wine, it is matured in traditional large wooden barrels, in stainless steel tanks or in French barriques. Premium wines of the house are the red wines "Cuveé Lukas" (Zweigelt, Merlot), "Zweigelt Haidacker" and "Merlot Schüttenberg". Noble brandies are also produced. The winery is a member of the two winegrowers' associations Rubin Carnuntum Weingüter and Traditionsweingüter Österreich.
