The winery is located in the municipality of Fels am Wagram in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. It was founded in the early 1960s by Franz and Barbara Leth. Today it is run by the third generation of Franz Leth. The vineyards cover 52 hectares of vines in the Brunnthal, Scheiben and Steinagrund vineyards. 80% of the vineyards are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roter Veltliner and Gelber Muskateller, and 20% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Pinot Noir and St. Laur ent. For decades, we have been practising natural, environmentally friendly viticulture with, among other things, no herbicides and insecticides, as well as minimal use of chemical pesticides.
After complete must clarification, the white wines are spontaneously fermented at controlled temperatures with the vineyard's own yeasts and matured in stainless steel tanks with typical varietal fruitiness. Further ageing of the top wines takes place in traditional large wooden barrels. The best red wines from the great vintages are matured in new barriques. The wines are vinified in the two lines "Klassik" and "Lagenweine". The premium wines of the house are Grüner Veltliner Scheiben Reserve, Roter Veltliner Scheiben and Zweigelt "Gigama". Old wines are offered back to 1973. The winery is a member of the Winery Association Wagram, whose chairman is Franz Leth, as well as of Traditionsweingüter Österreich.
On one hectare in the Floss vineyard, old varieties, some of which are almost extinct, are collected. The collection includes regional varieties from Lower Austria, Styria and Burgenland, but also from Germany, Italy, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the USA. The stock has grown to 250 varieties, of each of which there are about 15 vines. Among them are Bettlertraube, Braunweißer Veltliner, Elvira, Gänsfüßer, Geißdutte, Grüner Portugieser, Grünling, Heunisch (Gouais Blanc), Honigler (Mézes Fehér), Königsast, Liliorila, Noah, Ochsenauge, Österreichisch-Weiß, Räuschling, Riesliner, Slankamenka and Tauberschwarz. Microvinification is used to obtain wines that are partly pure in variety. A true curiosity is the cuvée "Simply Wow!" made from all varieties
