2017 Ried Ungerberg Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Rather tart, somewhat tobacco-woody aroma of predominantly black berries with a hint of tar and coffee grounds as well as red berry and floral traces. Clear, quite polished, fine-juicy fruit, tobacco, nutty and floral hints, a touch of coffee, crumbly, ripe tannin and delicate acid bite, good persistence, ethereal traces, a little chocolate and pepper, very good, delicately smoky finish with polished juice and a touch of milk chocolate. Has developed well over the last few weeks and, above all, has completely shed the bitterness.

Editor note: Quite firm, somewhat smoky and bacony, very slightly developed black and red berry scent with tobacco and nutty-woody aromas as well as a hint of tar. Tart, rather dark, quite tightly knitted fruit, clear, somewhat bacony, nutty and sooty wood, a hint of milky coffee in the background, somewhat sandy, slightly drying tannin, good persistence, salty tones, coffee grounds, very good, tart, somewhat drying finish, again with bitterish wood, but also minerality.
