2015 Mauchen Frauenberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Baden, Germany

Clear, fairly firm nose, red and a few black berries, hint of cherries, dried floral, herbaceous and peppery traces. Ripe, predominantlydark fruit on the palate, light sooty oak, hint of tobacco, light acid bite, bitter nutty notes, fine, sandy, ripe tannins, salty notes, hint of bacon, persistent, some depth, herbaceous and floral traces, slightly astringent , touch of juniper in the background, more suity oak on a good to very good, fresh, juicy finish.

Fairly dark, tart, juicy fruit on the palate, smoky oak, hint of bacon , earthy and salty mineral notes, braised bell peppers and artichokes, fine sandy tannins, still very slightly astringent, light acid bite, persistent and gripping, herbaceous and light peppery notes, touch of juniper, good substance, some depth, slightly rustic style, very good firm, juicy, slightly smoky finish with herbaceous notes and juniper.
