2018 Spätburgunder Reserve "Devonschiefer - R", Ahr, Germany

Firm and deep, smoky, slightly peppery and spicy, dried herbal and iodine scent of ripe black and red berries with tobacco nuances, tar, dried flowers, root vegetables and juniper. Concentrated and juicy in the mouth, ripe, yet rather tart fruit with smoky and slightly bacon-like wooden notes, youthful, crumbly-sandy tannin, has power and warmth, but also some bite, salty and chalky minerality, excellent depth, complex spiciness, still extremely young and compact, but fans out with air and wins again clearly on the second day of the re-tasting, especially the subtleties come out, which you have to look for in the beginning, very good to long, firm, smoky and bacon-like finish with ripe, tart juice and again minerality.
