2017 Neuenahr Spätburgunder VDP.Ortswein trocken, Ahr, Germany

Light dried vegetal notes on the nose, hint of tobacco, predominantly red and a few black berries, hint of nutty oak, earthy and mineral notes. Ripe, predominantly red fruit on the palate, spicy oak, touch of aubergine and lightly braised mushrooms in the background, integrated, sandy tannins, medium body, noticeable warm alcohol, sooty, smoky notes, good persistence, salty notes in the background, hint of bacon, slightly astringent on a good to very good finish.
