Editor note: Light spicy notes on the nose, predominantly red berries, hint of tobacco, light earthy notes, hint of dried mushroom. Tart, juicy, red fruit on the palate, light smoky, spicy oak, dried herbs and a hint of tobacco, light peppery notes, fine, youthful tannins, good substance and persistence, fairly full-bodied, slightly noticeable warm alcohol, mineral notes in the background, still very slightly astringent, juicy red fruit on a very good, slightly smoky finish.

The production area, named after a tributary of the Rhine, is located in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany. The Ahr has its source in the Eifel and flows south of Bonn into the Rhine. The vineyards cover 563 hectares of vineyards on south-facing steep slopes in the lower and middle part of the deeply incised river valley over a length of about 25 kilometres. In 2014, a significant decision was made in the Ahr valley in favour of ecologically sound, sustainable viticulture.
