2014 Spätburgunder Devonschiefer R, Reserve, Ahr, Germany

Clear, polished nose, ripe red and some black berries, with aeration develops some animal notes, hint of tobacco and bacon, light spicy oak, dried herbaceous notes, delicate floral traces, prominent mineral notes. Clear, polished, firm and fairly cool fruit on the palate, hint of smoked bacon, some dried herbs, peppery traces, prominent salty ,mineral notes, persistent, light acid bite, fine, youthful tannins, still astringent, quite deep, still very young, hint of tobacco, tart juivcy notes on a very good firm finish with more prominent salty mineral notes. Give it time to mature.

Editor note: Firm, fairly deep nose, light cedary traces, red berries and cassis, some tobacco, red bell peppers, some juniper and dried soup greens, floral traces, light mineral notes in the background. Fairly firm, predominantly red fruit on the palate, smoky oak, prominent salty mineral notes, touch of soup greens in the background, touch of spicy cardamom, green bacon, floral traces, hint of juniper, some pomegranate, good persistence, medium depth, both warm and cool elements, clear contours, very good finish with red fruit and salty notes.
