2001 Dernau Pfarrwingert Spätburgunder Auslese trocken, Ahr, Germany

Very attractive, cool nose with cherries and black berries, and mineral notes. Elegantly juicy, firmly strucutred fruit, clear and straightforward, very fine tannins, clean on the palate with mineral notes, dleicately tart, very good persistence, very full-bodied, still rather closed, long finish. Needs time to mature, and will probably be rated higher in 2 years time.
