2003 Ried Eichkogel trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Youthful nose with sour cherries and black berries, delicate vegetal notes, smoky and roasted notes. Firm with dark fruit and a fair amount of acidity, prominent smoky oak, with strongly astringent, almost chunky oak tannins, good presence on the palate, mineral notes, full-bodied and high in alcohol, still young, rough tannins and lots of oak on an otherwise attractive finish.
