2018 Südsteiermark DAC Ried Eckberg Sauvignon Blanc trocken, Styria/Steiermark, Austria

Firm, nutty, clearly green-vegetable, especially reminiscent of legumes and also smoky-woody aroma with aromas of ripe yellow fruits, tobacco, asparagus and mineral hints. Rather tightly knit, almost compact, ripe, tart fruit, fine acidity and much grip of ripe tannin, clearly vegetal and also herbal aromas, persistent on the palate, deep and complex, still very young, has more power than the rather moderate alcohol suggests, red berry nuances in the background, good depth, still undeveloped, fennel seeds in the background, very good, firm, juicy, vegetal and rather mineral finish with fine spice and a hint of smoke. Still needs to mature
