The winery is located in the municipality of Heilbronn (Württembergisch-Unterland area) in the German wine-growing region of
Württemberg. The two families, Kistenmacher and Hengerer, can look back on more than 500 years of winegrowing tradition; the estate has existed in its current form since 1958 and has been managed by Hans Hengerer since the mid-1990s. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the single vineyards of Stahlbühl,
Stiftsberg and
Wartberg in Heilbronn. They are planted with the red wine varieties Trollinger, Pinot Noir, Samtrot, Lemberger, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Muskat-Trollinger and Schwarzriesling, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling, Kerner and Gelber Muskateller. In principle, the wines are fermented all the way through. BSA is also carried out on the white wines, depending on the desired wine type. The simpler red wines are produced with
mash heating, the higher-quality products with mash fermentation and bottled without fining or filtration. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of the
VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter)
