2022 Ungstein Weilberg Chardonnay trocken "Augenstern", Pfalz, Germany

Lightly developed, somewhat vegetable nose with nutty barrel tones, a bit of butter, tobacco, hinted smoke, fennel, and yellow fruit notes. Ripe, somewhat sweet-melting fruit with nutty, smoky, and slightly tobacco barrel notes, plant to vegetable aromas, floral nuances, and a touch of dark berries, fine acidity, very slightly sandy tannin, chalky and salty hints in the background, a bit of roasting and vanilla, light shell tones, very good, quite firm, slightly warm finish.
