The winery is located in the municipality of Bad Dürkheim (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. It is managed by Dipl. Ing. Joachim Wegner. The vineyards cover eleven hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Fronhof, Fuchsmantel, Rittergarten and Spielberg (Bad Dürkheim) and Herrenberg (Ungstein). They are 60% planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (one third), Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Auxerrois, Scheurebe and Sauvignon Blanc, and 40% with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dornfelder, Cabernet Cubin and Merlot. The vineyards are cultivated in an environmentally friendly manner with cover crop and fertilised with compost and horse manure and largely without mineral fertilisers. The red wine grapes for the top brands are greatly reduced in yield by grape splitting.
Through selective harvesting at the optimal time, only healthy and fully ripe grapes are processed. The wines are vinified in accordance with the objectives of the winery and are typical of the region, terroir, vintage and grape variety. The white wines are aged for a long time on the fine lees, partly in barriques, after strong pre-clarification and controlled fermentation. The red wines are generally fermented on the skins and mature for up to 36 months in barriques. Among the premium wines of the house are the "Ungsteiner Herrenberg Riesling Lunatic", aged in barriques and harvested at full moon, and the red wine "Cuvée Philipp" (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Cubin), aged in barriques. In years with suitable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslesen and ice wines are also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wine and orange wine are also produced. Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the Forum Pfalz and Pro Riesling associations.
