2019 Volkach Karthäuser Weißburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Firm, deep, tart and rather cool, clearly vegetal and slightly nutty, very bright, restrained yellow-fruity aroma with floral nuances, herbs and minerality. Taut, tart, fine-juicy, again rather cool fruit, lively acidity and grip of ripe, fine-sandy tannin, still yeasty hints, a little smoke and nutty-woody traces, hints of pepper and allspice, lasting, with some power, but largely fat-free, also quite dry, good depth, distinct minerality, still rather young, very good, firm, spicy, mineral and tart-juicy finish with delicately creamy and slight warmth, but also draught.

Editor note: Firm and concentrated, smoky, nutty and slightly vegetal aroma of ripe yellow fruits with a touch of pepper, caraway and fennel as well as mineral notes. Ripe, firm, tangy, again quite concentrated fruit, fine acidity and grip of ripe tannin, persistent, spicy, again fennel tones, some smoke and light wood, distinct minerality, lots of grip, good depth, still completely undeveloped, has power, very good, firm, tangy, grippy, smoky-spicy and mineral finish with still yeasty notes. Needs time.
