2002 Volkach Karthäuser Weißburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Strong aromas of candied citrus fruit, some stone fruit, sweet herbs and mineral notes. Juicy fruit, with slight residual sugar, very good structure, dense and minerally, attractive acidity, a touch of sherbet sweets, persistent and with good length. Clearly, this was exceptional grape material, which could have produced even better results if there had been a little less manipulation in the cellar. Nevertheless a very good wine.
