The winery is located in the municipality of Schweigen (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. Founded in 1961, the winery is now run by Werner Jülg, with his son Johannes in charge of the cellar. The vineyards cover 18 hectares in the single vineyard Sonnenberg in the Springberg, Pfarrwingert, St. Paul and Wormberg vineyards. These are characterised by different soil conditions. About 40% of the area lies over the nearby border in the French Alsace. The white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Muscat, Gewürztraminer, Scheurebe and Sauvignon Blanc are cultivated to 70%, and the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Pinot Meunier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Dornfelder and Blauer Portugieser to 30%. Appropriate measures, such as thinning, reduce the yield to a maximum of 65 hl/ha. The wines are vinified according to variety and origin. Some of the Riesling and Pinot Noir wines undergo spontaneous fermentation. The white wines are left on the fine le es for a long time. Certain red wines are matured in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. The winery is a member of Forum Pfalz and Generation Riesling.
