Editor note: Fairly fruity nose, mixed berries and cherries, floral traces. Light-bodied, tart fruit on the palate, light acid bite, fine sandy tannins, vegetal traces, hint of citrus fruit, fairly persistent, earthy notes and some peppery spice, light salty notes, nutty aromas, slightly muted, good to very good tart, youthful, fruity finish.

Canton with the capital of the same name in the north-east of Switzerland on the border with Austria. The vineyards cover 220 hectares and belong to the wine region of German-speaking Switzerland. They are mainly located in the Rhine valley between the Bündner Herrschaft in the canton of Bern (Bernese Oberland) and Lake Constance. In the 6th century AD, monks from Burgundy founded the monastery of St. Maurice near Aigle in the canton of Vaud and cultivated vineyards. The red grape variety (breeding number Klosterneuburg 181-2-71) is a new breeding between St. Laurent x Blaufränkisch (which was confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 1997). Synonyms are Blaue Zweigeltrebe, Blauer Zweigelt, Cvaigelt, Cveigelt, Klosterneuburg 71, Rotburger, Semenac Cerni 71, Zweigelt 71, Zweigeltrebe and Zwiegelt.
