The "Weingut Hofmann" is located in the municipality of Appenheim ( Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The winery has been run by Carolin and Jürgen Hofmann since 2006. Both graduated in oenology in Geisenheim, and gained practical experience in California, South Africa, Australia, Hungary and Romania. Jürgen Hofmann also previously worked as a winemaker at the Reh Kendermann winery. The vineyards cover 13.5 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Eselspfad and Hundertgulden (Appenheim), as well as Ölberg (Nierstein). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Bl anc and Huxelrebe, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is consistently practised.
In 2011, a completely new winery was built on the "green meadow", as well as the vinotheque in Appenheim, where wines from the two growing regions Mosel (Saar) and Rheinhessen are offered. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in steel tanks and partly also in large wooden barrels. With the "Fritz Müller" sparkling wine project together with the Munich partner and wine merchant Guido Walter, the German sparkling wine brand is to be further developed. The second family business run by the Hofmann family is the Willems-Willems winery in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar) in the Moselle wine-growing region.
