The winery is located in Bermersheim vor der Höhe ( Bingen area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The family has been growing wine for 300 years and today the estate is run by Heinz-Günter Hauck.
The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Hildegardisberg and Klosterberg (Bermersheim), Kachelberg (Ensheim), Rotenfels (Alzey) and Hundskopf (Albig). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Scheurebe, Auxerrois, Kerner and Bacchus, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser, St. Laurent, Regent, Dornfelder, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Neronet. Natural viticulture is practised with, for example, cover crop, organic fertilisation using press residues and protection of beneficial insects by not using insecticides.
The wines are carefully vinified using a combination of modern technology and tradition. Due to the diversity of varieties, there is a wide range of products. In years with favourable weather conditions, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and semi-sparkling wines are also produced.
