2023 Iphofen Kammer Riesling VDP.Grosses Gewächs trocken, Franconia/Franken, Germany

Right firm, hearty, distinctly plant-like and a hint of yeasty citrus aroma with bright stone fruit notes, a touch of smoke, olive oil, and white fruity nuances. Taut, cool, very bright fruit, lively acidity and grip of fine tannin, again smoky hints, certain sustainability, pronounced, bitter, chalky-salty minerality, light shell tones on the palate, still undeveloped, very good finish, again with noticeable phenolic grip and acidity. Gains with a lot of air. Not significantly stronger than the first sample, but still surprisingly different in appearance.

Editor note: A firm, slightly warm, somewhat nutty and finely vegetable scent with yellow fruity aromas, a bit of smoke, earthy to mineral hints, and a touch of yellow spice, shellfish meat, and hinted ethereal herbs. Ripe, juicy, not completely dry fruit, smoky, nutty, and herbaceous-vegetable notes, lively acidity, a grip of ripe tannin, lasting on the palate, certain power, distinct minerality in the background, a somewhat sturdier type, slightly green-fruity tones, still undeveloped, certain depth, vegetable nuances, very good, firm finish with grip and again minerality.
