2018 Leistadt Herzfeld Spätburgunder, Pfalz, Germany

Relatively firm, somewhat smoky, nutty, slightly mushroomy and hints of undergrowth aroma of partly preserved cherries with a little black berries as well as nuances reminiscent of mint and meat juice. Firmly knit, tangy fruit with a hint of pepper and some smoky, sooty wood spice, ripe, fine sandy tannins, good substance and persistence, a hint of bitter chocolate and salt, very good, only a little bitterish finish with ripe juice. Has developed very much to its advantage.
