The winery is located in the community of Hohenruppersdorf in the south of the Lower Austrian wine growing region Weinviertel
. It was founded as early as 1683, the year of the second Turkish siege of Vienna. Today it is managed by Paul and Regina Hahn. The vineyards comprise 15 hectares of vineyards in the areas of Bergen, Boigenthal, Gaisrupp, Rothen Püllen and Zwiefang. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Welschriesling, Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), Pinot Blanc, Traminer, Muskateller, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot. The winegrowing is consistently practised in a near-natural, environmentally friendly manner according to the guidelines of the KIP
(controlled integrated production). This includes gentle pruning, greening
, no chemical fertilization
, natural foliage work, voluntary yield limitation, selective selection and the most gentle pressing. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks or barriques. Premium wines include, for example, various (Grüner Veltliner), as well as the red wine cuvée "Mela Rossa" (Cabernet Sauvignon, Zweigelt, Blauburger, Syrah), which is aged for 24 months in barrique. Fine brandies are also produced.
