The winery is located in the municipality of Theilheim (area Maindreieck) in the German wine growing region of Franconia. The founder of the company, Hermann Deppisch, was the external manager of the Bürgerspital and leased the first vineyards in 1989. After his training at the Bürgerspital and his oenology studies, his son Christian Deppisch now runs the winery as a sideline. A hedge cultivation is attached. The vineyards comprise four hectares of vineyards in the Altenberg (Hammelburg) single vineyard. They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner,Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Blauer Silvaner as well as the red wine varietiesPinot Noir, Frühburgunder, Domina, Regent and Blauer Portugieser. Since 2008, the vineyard has been cultivated according to the rules of Biodynamic viticulture in line with certified guidelines of DEMETER.
An important quality criterion is low yields and physiologically ripe and healthy grapes. In principle, the wines are fermented spontaneously after whole grape pressing. In the cellar there are as few interventions as possible, fining is avoided. The wines are marketed in the three lines Everyday Joy, Tradition and PER SE. The red wines are matured in traditional large wooden barrels. Since the 2012 vintage, no predicate designations are used. Among the premium wines is the site wine ALTENBERG! bottled in the Bocksbeutel Silvaner, as well as from the PER SE line of Frühburgunder and Weißer Burgunder. A Secco called "Seitensprung" is also produced. About 20.000 bottles of wine are produced annually.
