2018 Ried Ungerberg Merlot trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Firm and quite deep, tobacco, slightly smoky and a hint of cedar aroma of ripe black berries with a hint of tomato paste, pepper and dry herbs. Firmly woven, tart, juicy, polished fruit, taut, quite fine tannin and some bite, persistent on the palate, powerful but not heavy, slightly smoky and toasty spice in the background, salty hints, a touch of dry herbs and dark ethereal nuances, has some freshness, tobacco hints, salty mineral tones, very good, taut finish with bite.
