2017 Neusiedlersee DAC Gols trocken "Dorfweingarten - Sixty-Eight", Burgenland, Austria

Clear, polished nose of ripe black rather than red berries with cherry flavours, nutty barrel notes, a hint of tobacco and hints of meat, herbs and dark chocolate. Ripe, firm, very juicy fruit with slightly nutty and bitter chocolate nuances, fine, ripe tannins, animating acid bite, some toastiness on the palate, dried herbal and peppery nuances, a certain depth, salty-mineral tones, restrained power, very good, juicy and finely spicy finish with bite and moderate, very slightly sweetish wood spice. In top form, even better than 3 years ago, but still young.

Editor note: Clear and quite deep, youthful, polished aroma of predominantly red berries and cherries with very fine floral and somewhat herbal notes and a hint of pepper. Tight, fresh, juicy and again quite polished fruit, very fine, ripe, youthful tannin and some bite, persistent on the palate, elegant style, salty in the background, some depth, lots of life, very good, tight, juicy and finely spicy finish with a hint of smoke
