2002 Rüdesheim Berg Schlossberg Riesling Auslese, Rheingau, Germany

Firmly structured nose, reminiscent of ice wine, with candied apples, peaches and caramel with mineral notes. Very sweet in the mouth, with lots of caramel and honey, fairly moderate acidity, intense flavours of sugar candy and lots of dried fruit, very persistent on the palate, mineral notes in the background, enticing in spite of its relatively low acidity, needs some aeration to open up and show its quality, very long finish. Will improve with maturation.
