2018 Schweigen Sonnenberg Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs trocken "Sankt Paul", Pfalz, Germany

Deep and quite fine, polished, multi-layered, delicately bacony aroma of more black than red berries with dry herbal aromas, some pepper, cloves, dried meat and hints of juniper, a hint of saffron as well as dark floral aromas in the background. Ripe, firm, juicy, tart fruit, taut, quite fine tannin, nutty and slightly cocoa-spicy wood flavours, some coffee grounds, pepper and juniper again, persistent and powerful on the palate, warm and cool elements, tobacco and cedary tones, good depth, bacon nuances, porcini mushrooms, still completely undeveloped, very good, firm, complex, tangy finish with salty minerality, herbs, pepper and porcini mushrooms again.
