2018 Schweigen Sonnenberg Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs trocken "Heydenreich", Pfalz, Germany

Deep and complex, more black than red berry aroma with juniper aromas, pepper, dried herbs, dried meat, porcini mushrooms, some parsley, a little smoky and ashy wood nuances as well as mineral tones. Firm in the mouth, still distinctly smoky-roasty, with coffee and cocoa notes, dark fruit, juniper, pepper and partly Mediterranean herbs, bacony nuances in the background, has power, if not force, substance, depth and warmth, still completely undeveloped, lots of salt, very good to long, still a little off-putting and bitterish, with air increasingly juicy, very complex finish. Needs time.
