2018 Schweigen Sonnenberg Pinot Noir Grosses Gewächs trocken "Herrenwingert", Pfalz, Germany

Firm aroma of ripe predominantly black berries with nutty and very slightly tobacco aromas, oregano, capers, bay leaf, raw beef and a hint of juniper. Very tightly knit, tart, rather dark fruit with dried planty to slightly tobacco aromas, smoky barrel wood notes and a hint of juniper, some acid bite, herbal hints on the palate, present, relatively fine tannin, still seems completely undeveloped, has power and some depth, lots of salty minerality, very good, dark, dense finish with lots of oregano, tart dark fruit, bite and slight bitterness. Needs to mature.
