2015 Oberrotweil Kirchberg Chardonnay Grosses Gewächs, Baden, Germany

Tart and firm, nutty, slightly herbaceous-vegetable, somewhat woody and reminiscent of popcorn with citrus and pome fruit aromas and quite clearly artichokes. Ripe, melting, yet tart fruit, a little smoky and nutty wood with vanilla tones, fine, quite lively acidity and some grip, buttery flavours on the palate, again also popcorn, salt and salted caramel in the background, some depth, has power and a certain warmth, still rather young looking, very good, firm and at the same time melting finish. Will be able to develop longer than originally expected.

Editor note: Cool, firm, fairly polished nose, nutty and light vegetal notes reminiscent of artichokes, fairly cool citrus and pomaceous fruit, yeasty notes, light mineral notes. Firm, ripe, bone dry fruit on the palate, very elegant acidity, moderate tannins, persistent and full-bodied, light nutty notes and a touch of popcorn, concentrated, some depth, yeasty notes, still undeveloped, earthy and salty mineral notes in the background, slightly noticeable warm alcohol on a very good, compact finish.
