The winery is located in the municipality of Königsbrunn in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Wagram. The traditional family has been growing grapes here for over 100 years. Today, Franz Bayer is the 5th generation to run the business. The vineyards cover 26 hectares in the vineyards Berg, Bromberg, Gänsacker, Hochrain, Leihen, Mitterberg and Rainthal. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Roter Veltliner, Frühroter Veltliner, Chardonnay, Gelber and Roter Muskateller, Sylvaner, Rivaner (Müller-Thurgau), Sauvignon Blanc, Welschriesling, Riesling and Weißburgunder (Pinot Blanc), as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Blauer Portugieser, Roesler and St. Laurent. In addition, a Gemischter Satz is also cultivated, from which the wine "da Franz'l" is pressed.
Depending on the type of wine, the wines are matured in stainless steel, in large wooden bar rels or in barriques. On the occasion of the 100th birthday of the former Austrian Chancellor (an uncle of Getrude Bayer), the "Leopold-Figl-Edition" was created in 2002. Wine tastings are organised in the Leopold-Figl-Stüberl. The Red Star collection includes various red wines whose pop art labels are designed by artist Mario Jakob Stroitz (MAJA). A special hobby of Franz Bayer Sr. is collecting vintage wines. In the in-house vinotheque, there are wines dating back to the 1940 vintage, which are offered in stylish wooden crates. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced. In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wine is also produced.
