The winery is located in the municipality of Rhodt unter Rietburg (area Südliche Weinstraße) in the German wine-growing region Pfalz
. The traditional winery has a history of over 300 years. There is a wine tavern and a pension. Since 2012, the business has been managed by Felix Waldkirch, who trained as a winegrower and chef. The vineyards cover nine hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Bergel (Edenkoben), Michelsberg (Weyher in the Palatinate), as well as Klosterpfad, Rosengarten and Schlossberg
(Rhodt under Rietburg). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Silvaner, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer, Morio-Muscat Scheurebe, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Dornfelder
The cultivation is carried out in a natural and environmentally friendly way. Through selective harvesting, only physiologically ripe
and healthy grapes are processed. The gentle vinification is carried out in an extremely conservative manner, if possible without intervention. The white wines are matured in stainless steel for the most part, and to a lesser extent also in large wooden barrels and in barriques. They age for a long time on the full yeast
. For the red wines, this takes place mainly in large wooden barrels and barriques. The premium wines include Riesling Rhodter Schlossberg, Pinot Blanc Rhodter Rosengarten, as well as the fruit-sweet Kabinett and Spätlese wines.
