2018 Leithaberg DAC Ried Goldberg Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Clear, firm and deep, polished, cool nose of more black than red berries with cherry notes, a little pepper and hints of liquorice, dry herbs, juniper and moderate wood aromas. Very firm, tart, rather dark fruit, peppery-ethereal and also some herbal spice, slightly bitter-chocolatey and coffee-spicy wood, youthful, fine-sandy, ripe tannin, persistent, deep and dense on the palate, clear, chalky-salty minerality, restrained power, very good, firm, tart-juicy and -spicy finish with grip and bite.

Best to drink: Mitte 2023 bis 2030+. What our ratings mean
