The winery Kurt Erbeldinger & Sohn is located in the municipality of Bechtheim-West (Wonnegau area) in the German wine growing region of Rheinhessen
. The foundation stone was laid by Kurt and Gertrud Erbeldinger, who bottled their first wines in 1960 and converted their former mixed operation of agriculture, fruit growing and viticulture to the bottle marketing of wine. Since 2001 the estate has been managed by his son Stefan and his son Christoph, who is responsible for the vineyards. The vineyards comprise 30 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Geyersberg
, Heiligkreuz and Pilgrim's Path (Bechtheim), Aulerde
(Westhofen), as well as Mandelbrunnen (Gundheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (20%), Pinot Blanc (15%), Müller-Thurgau, Grüner Silvaner, Chardonnay, Scheurebe and Gewürztraminer, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir (15%) Portugieser, Dornfelder and St. Laurent.
The cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines of organic viticulture
. Special emphasis is placed on reduced yields. The wines are produced with a typical variety and origin, with maceration for red and white wines, controlled fermentation with partial spontaneous fermentation
and ageing in stainless steel and/or large wooden barrels. The dry wines are marketed according to the Gutswein-Ortswein-Lagenwein model. Premium wines are the Pinot Blanc and Rieslings, including the "Privat" line, the Pinot Blanc "Glanzstück" matured for 18 months in large wooden barrels and the white wine cuvée "Weingeschwister" (Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc). We also produce bottle-fermented sparkling wines in 12 varieties. The winery is a member of the winegrowers associations Weinbruderschaft St. Katharinen, Generation Riesling, Pro Riesling
