2017 Leithaberg DAC Ried Schildten Blaufränkisch trocken, Burgenland, Austria

Firm, somewhat waxy-ethereal scent of very ripe black berries with rather dark, spicy wood aromas as well as mushroomy, tobacco and bacon nuances. Ripe, firm, juicy black fruit with smoky and slightly sooty wood aromas, nutty tones and a little coffee grounds, some acidity, has power and warmth, but also gains freshness with air, persistent, mineral hints, very good, tart-juicy finish with herbal and hints of juniper spice, bite and grip.

Editor note: Clear, polished and quite fine, somewhat floral scent of predominantly dark berries and cherries with a moderate, fine, slightly chocolaty wood spice. Firm, ripe, very juicy dark fruit, present, youthful yet crisp tannin, some bite, dense and substantial on the palate, lasting, good depth, moderate wood spice, again hinted at chocolate, a hint of citrus zest, very good, firm, juicy and finely spicy finish
