2021 Monzingen Halenberg Riesling Grosses Gewächs trocken, Nahe, Germany

Rather firm, still rather closed, a little smoky and also yeasty bouquet with stone fruit and citrus aromas, vegetal nuances, a hint of mushrooms and partly dark minerality. Ripe, tightly knit, initially rather tart fruit, yeasty and again also fresh vegetal aromas, lively, fine acidity, plenty of salty minerality, persistent and dense on the palate, some tannic grip, slight candied sweetness on the palate, black olives, some coriander and long pepper, a hint of dark berries, nuances reminiscent of shiitake mushrooms, excellent depth, still compact and almost inaccessible, long, very complex, intensely mineral finish with relatively dark aromatics and plenty of persistence.
