2021 Carnuntum DAC Ried Spitzerberg Erste ÖTW Ried trocken "Kranzen", Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Reserved, somewhat tobacco-like and smoky scent of black berries with meaty notes, a bit of premium tomato, herbal and floral nuances, as well as a hint of pepper and blood. Firm, astringent, still undeveloped dark fruit, slightly smoky, nutty and tobacco barrel notes, some pepper on the palate, dried herbs, juniper and a touch of soot, crumbly-sandy, yet relatively fine tannins, persistent on the palate, restrained power, cooling ethereal notes, dried coriander, bacon hints, noticeable salt in the background, a bit of dried flowers and juniper, tobacco hints, very good, firm, relatively cool finish. Builds over days.
