2019 Mayschoss Mönchberg Frühburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Ahr, Germany

Quite firm and deep, noticeably woody, somewhat dried-vegetable to herbal, slightly bacony, mushroomy and hints of smoky scent of predominantly red berries with a hint of mint and juniper. Clear, firm, tart-juicy fruit with a slight acid bite and some spicy and nutty wood aromas, crumbly, still a little youthful tannin, dense and persistent on the palate, some depth, hints of cocoa and mint, slightly warm nuances, distinctly salty and chalky tones, quite complex, a hint of dried mushrooms, very good finish with traction.
